Kanye West is my favourite artist of all time. He represents a jack of all trades talent by being a producer, rapper, lyricist, fashion designer, and artist. Kanye is a showing of insane work ethic paying off, even if you don't see results at first.
In West's Spaceship He said "Lock yourself in a room
doing five beats a day for three summers." It speaks for itself, he was working waiting for his spaceship to fly off. Meanwhile I make my music at a mere fraction of the rate.
Kanye's mastery was always in producing, he is the best producer of all time, and I don't believe that's a hot take. The evidence is in the styles he would make, in the early 2000's it was Chipmunk Soul, then it got Jazzier with Late Registration, then he transitioned to synths, and with 808's and heartbreak, pioneered a new wave of trap music that dominates the 2010's and onwards. His influence through his production alone is unheard of.
Kanye's lyricism is not something to scoff at either, in College Dropout he has iconic lines that showcase his cleverness and writing ability. His hunger and passion on that album makes the album ooze personality. Even the skits add to the album with their comedy and relevance to the themes.
My favourite albums of his would be the College Trilogy and MBDTF.
